ABOUT ST PAUL
Born of Jewish parents sometime between 5 and 15 in Tarus a citizen of Rome, Saul(his original name) studied under the famous teacher Gamaliel in Jerusalem,
became a rigid Pharisee and was tent maker by trade. He was a rabid persecutor of Christians. On the way to Damaseus to arrest some Christians and bring them back to
Jerusalem for trial, he experienced his famous encounter with Christ which led not only to his conversion Saul became Paul; but in view of his tremendous impact on early Christianity,
was to shape whole Christian experience (Bible Acts 9:1-13) St. Paul was probably the greatest religious genius that Christianity has ever known. Being equally familiar with Jewish and
Greek culture, he was admirably fitted by nature and training for the great work God has assigned to him, to free the young Christian church from Jewish Sectarianism. His 14 apostolic
writings to the churches he had founded have remained a wellspring of truth down to our own day. He was arrested during the persecution of Nero. He was beheaded outside the gates of the
city of Rome in the year 67.
